I chose to take these images because I took a lot of inspiration from Nick Waplington and his “The Gorgeous Daily” work. I took these images in my grandparents’ home because it has a lot of meaning for me and my family as we spend a lot of our time together here. I just chose to take some discrete pictures as my family went through their daily lives and interactions with each other and I feel these really capture family life in a working class family.
Again this image is very much inspired by Waplington’s work and I like this image because I feel it really captures a real moment of happiness that can be transferred through the image.
I chose to take these images in the village where my grandparents live because it has a lot of meaning to me as this is where I spent a lot of my childhood and it became a home away from home for me so I think it’s a perfect location for the brief. Each one of these images has a special meaning to me, for example the image above is where me and my brother would play football together so I wanted to capture this in this image.
When taking these images I had Godwin’s landscape photography in mind but I didn’t have the wide rolling landscapes that she used in her images so I worked with what I had and I still feel like I got a Godwin style feel with these images. I didn’t want to put the images in black and white like Godwin though because the day was so nice that the colours that came through like the greens from the grass looked so beautiful i didn’t wanna take away from that.
