Overall I’m really happy with how my triptych has turned out and I think it shows how far I’ve progressed with my photographic abilities. From quite early on I knew I wanted each of my images to have the same background because I felt it would help the piece flow better and give it a sense of continuity. The main problem was finding a background I was really happy with and I didn’t want it to be plain and boring so when I experimented with using two different colours for the background I started to get the kind of effect I was looking for. I feel the mix of the blue and red works really well together and especially with the spotlight effect placed on the red backdrop because it almost highlights the object in a way. In terms of the objects being clear and in focus, I feel like they’re all pretty clear and show off a lot of the details in the objects especially within the gold detailing on the snuff box. When I was taking my photos I was having a lot of trouble with the flash because the gold objects were so shiny it would cause a lot of lens flare but I feel like in these final images I have controlled that pretty well, especially after I edited them in Lightroom and turned the contrast down to make them slightly darker. If I had to go back and improve these images, the first thing I would do is reposition the snuff box image because to me it looks slightly off centre compared to the positioning of the background light.
